As a result, we have carefully chosen health and wellness professionals who understand the demands on young developing dance students. Conditioning, massage and physical therapy, nutrition, and injury prevention programs focus on keeping our students healthy. Programs include the following:
Bigger. Better. Faster. Stronger movement. CPYB Conditioning* improves a dancer’s technique and performance by strengthening the body’s core muscles. Individually designed, semi-private workout regimes with tailored exercises for young women and young men make use of select Pilates equipment. CPYB Conditioning helps the dancer understand their body, focusing on their strengths, their limits, and areas needing muscle development. The result is more lift without tension, deeper pliés, higher jumps with less effort, tighter turns, and improved extension with better lines. Cost: $31 per session. Combining an understanding of the dancer’s world whose rehearsal and training time is extensive is particularly effective in the prevention and rehabilitation of dance injuries. Students may sign up for personal, onsite consultations with licensed physical therapists knowledgeable in evaluation and treatment with an emphasis on returning to dance. Cost: $21 per 15-minute session, on-site once per week at CPYB. Students can sign up for sessions each week at the CPYB Warehouse Studios.
Addresses dance injuries and deep tissue work that targets specific areas that are tight, overworked, or harbor painful trigger points. Students may sign up for personal, onsite massage therapy sessions targeting hurting areas and providing self-care techniques. Cost: $16 per 15-minute session, on-site once per week at CPYB. Students can sign up for sessions each week at the CPYB Warehouse Studios.
A free seminar series that will enrich a student’s life, both as an individual and as a dancer. Students will glean practical knowledge on topics such as nutrition, wellness, and injury prevention.
Prepares male dancers for the physical rigors of rehearsal and performance. Strength training is designed to increase strength, power and stamina. Physical strength increases physical ability, decreases risk of injury and increases mental confidence. Cost: Determined by UMedGym
