Auditions and Admissions
Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet has a commitment to providing the highest standard of classical ballet training, including personalized attention through a low student to teacher ratio and the ability to address individual needs.
New students ages 6-7 will take a placement class following registration to determine their level.
New students ages 8-19 are required to audition.
Students should submit a video audition. Video Auditions will be accepted throughout the start of the academic year until the program is full.
Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet looks at each applicant individually. The structure of the audition is similar to a condensed class focusing on barre and center exercises. The audition will take place in flat shoes.
Yes, students must pre-register to take the audition. Registration closes one week prior to the audition. No late registrations will be accepted. Students may submit a video audition after the registration has closed.
Students who attend the virtual or in-person audition will receive notification of their acceptance the following day. Students who submit a video audition will receive notification within a week of the submission of their video. All pieces of the application must be submitted for the application to be reviewed.
Individual feedback or critique will not be provided on the student's audition.
Students enrolled in the 2019/2020 Academic Year do not need to audition and can register using the instructions in the Student Center. Students who have or are currently attended our 5-Week Summer Ballet Program or August Course in the past must audition.
After acceptance, your son/daughter must commit to the program. Those next steps will be communicated after your child is accepted.
Level placement is pending an in-class review.
Classes will begin on Thursday, September 10, 2020.
