Alan Hineline's Twist, Third Movement"Twist," a collaboration between Alan Hineline, composer Jerome Begin and fashion designer Sebastian St. John, was created for the Alabama Ballet in 2003. The abstract work uses repetitive structure as a thorough line for each of the four energetic movements. A sought after choreographer and ballet master, Hineline is the CEO and resident choreographer with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Performed at Stars of CPYB 2011 by CPYB alumni Lauren Bettencourt (Dominic Walsh Dance Theater), Joey Steinauer (The National Ballet of Canada), and Aimee Schleimer (Nevada Ballet Theater).

On the heels of sold-out 2011 performances, Laszlo Berdo's rollicking "Carnival of the Animals" returns to Whitaker Center for four performances only on Oct. 20 & 21, 2012. Camille Saint-Saens' buoyant melodies soar with the magnificent Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and witf radio personality Cary Burkett's "witty and rhyming narration."

PCN Profiles: Marcia Dale Weary (2009)
Founding Artistic Director, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet
Marcia Dale Weary, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Artistic Director, began her teaching career in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1955 after her own studies with Thalia Mara and Arthur Mahoney at the School of Ballet Repertory in New York City. Her unequaled dedication to her school, students, and instructors, and her unique teaching style have brought the CPYB to the top of the dance field. The New York Times stated in 1989 that Weary is "considered one of the country's foremost ballet teachers." Ms. Weary is the 2009 recipient of the Pennsylvania Society's Distinguished Citizen of the Commonwealth Award and also the 2007 recipient of the Pennsylvania Governor's Award for the Arts for her Outstanding Leadership and Service to Youth. She and the CPYB have been featured in leading newspapers and magazines, television news and features, and in the award-winning documentary film presented on national public television, Children with a Dream.
