Academic Programs

Preschool Division

Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s Preschool Division introduces students to the world of dance through music and movement. Students develop coordination and learn ballet vocabulary, in addition to proper listening skills and classroom etiquette. Classes include Mommy & Me, Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet and Pre-Tap.

Mommy & Me (Ages 2 to 4) – An introduction to the art of dance in a nurturing environment ideal for children ages two to four years of age who are toilet trained.

Creative Movement (Pre-Kindergarten, Ages 3 to 5) - A special class designed for children three to five years of age who are ready to separate from their parent and dance independently.

Pre-Ballet (Kindergarten, Ages 5 to 6) – A prelude to formal ballet instruction, students will develop a foundation for ballet technique in a learning environment that fosters a love for dance and music.

Pre-Tap (Ages 4-6) – A class helping to improve the student’s posture and develop rhytym and coordination.

Primary Division

Progressive levels of ballet training that focus on developing technique. The Primary Division features beginning levels for learning ballet and consists of four levels: 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B. Students progress through these levels as through grades in any school; however, all students move at different rates.

Pre-Professional Division

Progressive levels of ballet training focused on perfecting technique, building physical strength, and developing artistry.

Open Program (adult students age 13 and older)

Quality dance training designed for the adult student age 13 and up. Ballet classes will enhance each student’s experience to the fullest in a stimulating and creative atmosphere. Casual attire. Flexible attendance. New classes are added as interest dictates.
